Feed the birds

The Environment and Community teams joined up on the last Saturday in January to run a joint workshop for the residents to make bird feeders. The workshop was a free session that lasted for two hours, taking place at St Mary’s Church, Woughton on the Green.

The feeders were made from recycled wooden pallets that were cut into strips, these strips were then nailed into a u shape and mesh wire stapled across the front and back. A length of rope was then run from the base and through a wooden square that formed the top, which would later enable the feeder to be hung from a tree.

Once the feeders were constructed they were then filled with either seed (that was donated) or nuts that we provided. It was a very positive session with over 40 people participating; some of the comments at the end of the session were as follows, ‘enjoyed the session very much’ ‘we had a good laugh’ and ‘we loved it’.
