Environment

Councillor Steve Coventry
Chair of Environment Committee
Woughton Community Council employ 3 Parish Rangers, whose role is to carry out Environmental Patrols around all of the estates in the Parish area. They pick up on issues such as the condition of children's play areas, fly tipping in the area, abandoned vehicles and graffiti. Our Rangers then report these problems to the various Milton Keynes Council departments who should take action to clean up the problems.
In the Environment department we have a fairly limited budget which allows us to carry out environmental improvements throughout the Parish. We have installed over 40 dog poo bins across our estates with a few more to come this year, we have also installed a limited number of litter bins around our local centres. We are severely restricted on the amount of these that we can put up, as the main cost is not in purchasing these but in the emptying costs, which runs to about £150 per bin each year. We also manage The Patch Allotments at Woughton on the Green.
Amongst other things the Environment Committte have been instrumental in the following
Speed indicator devices
Improved parking
Dog Bins
Waste bins
Crime prevention
Graffitti removal.
As you can see there is plenty going on within our Environment department, and would welcome any local residents to put forward ideas or views on anything that we are in the process of doing or indeed things that you feel we should be doing.
