Community Development
Councillor Donna Coventry
Chair Community Development Committee
Our Committee covers all aspects of Community Development. We have a team of hard working Community and Youth workers without whom we couldn't achieve anywhere near as much of the work that we do within the parish. We work hard at forging partnerships within the community and wider, to get the best we can for the residents of Woughton. Some examples of the work we have done includes working with SEEDA (South East of England Development Agency], and the CVO Community of Voluntary Organisations on the place check scheme, which was getting out and about in the local area to find out what the residents really need, or working with a new mother and toddler group to support them. It really is that diverse.
We are involved in Summer and Easter playschemes in partnership with Milton Keynes Play Association as well as running youth clubs across the parish on a weekly basis.
Our biggest event each year is the carnival and fun day that takes place every summer and is always a great day with all the local schools and several local groups taking part in the procession, we all meet at Leadenhall for a funday and a chance to meet local groups and people.
We also take care of grant aid, groups and organisations that benefit the residents of Woughton can apply for a grant maybe to start up or to support a particular project.
All in all, we have a busy committee, whose very existence is to serve all the residents of our parish. I could continue for pages listing our work and achievements but they are too numerous to mention, if after reading this you would like to know more about the work of this committee please contact us, we would be delighted to hear from you.
